The first polish series on Netflix is a matter of days now and that’s great, because “1983” has an enormous potential. Showing alternative reality with the Cold War being still on, the show presents a disturbing vision of a modern world, that we know from history.
It’s 2003, and communism is strong in Poland. After tragic terrorist attacks from 1983, there is no hope for defeating the iron curtain, certainly not for a young law student Kajetan Skowron (Maciej Musiał). Wanting to reveal the conspiration from 20 years ago and plans of the party, he will unite with a compromised secret police officer (Robert Więckiewicz) to find out. What they will find may change to life of poles and the world forever.
The series is 8 episodes long and they will be available all together on Netflix. Agnieszka Holland will stand behind the camera, and apart from Musiał and Więckiewicz the cast is as following: Zofia Wichłacz, Michalina Olszańska, Andrzej Chyra, Edyta Olszówka and Mirosław Zbrojewicz. The show premiere is planned on November 30th 2018.
