The Handmaid's Tale (2017)

Whoever does not know this series yet, must necessarily read it. It is an adaptation of the Margaret Atwood’s novel, which belongs to the dystopia and socio drama maintained in the convention of science fiction. The action of the series takes place in the future in which humanity faces the problem of lack of fertility in most women. The power in the US, or rather in the new state of Gilead, is taken over by a pseudo-christian junta, a life is based on overinterpreted records in the Old Testament, according to which fertile women have only one duty to bear children. Therefore, the state is ruled by men, and fertile women become surrogates for wealthy families, and terrible punishments await them for disobedience.
Awards for the series
The Handmaid's Tale is a series appreciated not only for the amazing futuristic plot, but also for the implementation. It is very good technically and also has a unique dark atmosphere. Production for the 1st season received two Golden Globes and eight Emmy statuettes, among others for the best drama series. The main role of Elisabeth Moss and Ann Dowd ("The Leftovers"), Alexis Bledel for the supporting roles and the director Reeda Morano were awarded as well.
The Handmaid's Tale season 2
The second season departs from the story described in the novel more than the first, because the book's story has been exhausted. A new, independent scenario was created, however, the creators ensure that it is kept in the same climate as the first season. This time we will see new locations, for example the legendary Colonies, to which the handmaids were sent for bad behavior. We will also get to know the stories of other characters, for example Aunts who have been strictly in charge of the Handmaids in the previous season. Of course, there will be new heroes, the cast of the new season was joined by Clea DuVall known from the series "Veep", Marisa Tomei, Bruce Miller, Cherry Jones, Sydney Sweeney and Bradley Whitford.
